Today I was looking at the Concise Dictionary of Minnesota Ojibwe and discovered that I was spelling Miigwech wrong this whole time spelling it like this Miiwetch. (Embarrassing )!!
Oh Erin, please don't be embarrassed by this. Indeed, there is no 'correct' way to spell anything in our language - it is primarily a spoken language first :) Many of the best speakers I know actually can't write it at all. Miigwech is the correct spelling in the double vowel system, but miigwetch is also fine :) Some people actually prefer that. I do appreciate you trying to write in double vowel for this course :) Also, please know I will never take off any marks for spelling :) Good work checking out that dictionary :)
I went to Hawaii this past summer. It was an experience. I realized I really love to travel. There are many places I would like to experience. I would really like to go to Ireland someday.

ReplyDeleteI seem to write the word different everytime. I have seen it spelled: Miigwech, Miigwetch, Megwich, megwech, miigs! It's all good!
